The South by Southwest music, film, and interactive media conference in Austin will have roughly 6,000 events. With all the people and events, it is not only to easy to get lost, but it’s hard to know what to attend and when. This year, their mobile app will make personalized suggestions based on your tagged profile and other sessions you have selected.
Last year, they launched 1000 iBeacons throughout the venues and city so you could see who was around you and opted in to be recognized by their network. Clearly, this was a success because now they will be used for this event suggestions project too. This is of course only for people who opt-in.
This was the largest beacon installation at an event. The fact that it is at one of the biggest events in the world with influencers in a great variety of industries come to network will be very beneficial to generating quality beacon press.
