In the region of Merano, Northern Italy, beacons are used on SASAbues fleet. SASA runs 160 buses that account for 22 million trips every year. With the SASAbusAPP, passengers can receive notifications from beacons in buses and bus stops. App users can receive digital information and will have access to a complaints interface available 24/7.

A screen reader feature delivering info through text notifications and beacon notifications are used to assist visually impaired passengers finding the right bus stop. The beacons also help other customers – they can receive relevant information about their routes. There is also a survey that will be pushed will let customers evaluate the service
